The Most Used Plumbing Tools
Being a plumber you use all different kinds of tools, some more than others. So if you're just starting out being a plumber or your just trying to take care of your own issues without calling a plumber, then this is for you.
Here is a list of some of the most used plumbing tools you use:
- Adjustable pipe wrench: This is great to give you the leverage and grip you need. It is made to fit around round objects, which makes it perfect for loosening and tightening pipes.
- Faucet valve seat wrench: This helps remove the faucet body valve seat so you can replace it. These are used with compression faucets. This is your easiest option when you have a leak.
- Toilet or closet auger: This tool comes in handy when there is a clog in the toilet. It will help remove debris or help remove any objects that may have got flushed down the toilet.
- Sink auger: This is different than the toilet auger. They are both fit for different purposes, so you can’t just purchase one hoping to use it for the toilet and the sink because it won’t work. But just like the toilet auger, it helps break up anything that may be clogging the sink or tub.
- Cup plunger: This is probably the most used plumbing tool that most people have and need. It has a rubber end that is the shape of a cup helping it to have good suction to help loosen the clog. These can be used for the sink or the tub.
- Toilet plunger: This is designed for the toilet, with the shape of this kind of plunger it helps to seal the hole helping to unclog the toilet making it more effective than the cup plunger. These are also one of the most used plumbing tools. Having clogs is one of the most common plumbing problems so if nothing else at least have your cup plunger and toilet plunger on hand. They will really save you.
- Teflon Tape: This is a must for preventing any leakage from any threaded plumbing joint connections. This is used quite frequently, and it is pretty inexpensive.
- Faucet packing and washers: These are needed in the compression faucets to seal around the faucet stem.
- Tubing cutter: This is great when working with any pipe with copper. It helps cut the ends smoothly and squarely and makes well fitted joints.
- Ridgid Power Tools: Ridgid tools is one of my very favorite brands for tools, there are so many great tools to choose from for all your plumbing needs, and they last a long time. If you need any type of power tools for your plumbing repairs be sure to check out the ridgid brand for all your plumbing needs.
These are all the tools I have seemed to use time and time again. Of course there is many more tools you can use. But if you're just starting as a plumber and are feeling overwhelmed with all the tools out there and which ones would be best to start with, then this is what I recommend. I have got a lot of my tools online, they have a big selection on there and there prices are pretty reasonable. You can also find some great blogs online teaching you more about the tools and how to use them, one of my favorite blogs is http://damachevy.over-blog.com/ridgid-power-tool-reviews.
